Lucky me, I slid into a spot last night, with so few available, I gotta wonder if someone hadn't just left. If Noodle reads this - thanks for the invite - I had a fun time last night. I met Noodle, Skeeter, Sass & Spyder for some McAlister's, then Dollar Tree, then book store.
You know meme that Noodle did the other day, the four things, and she listed a shirt she wished she still had? It reminded me of a song by Mary Chapin Carpenter. "This shirt is old and faded, all the color washed away" and she sings about different things she has done in "this shirt." Judging from the time that seems to take place in the song, she hasn't gained an ounce since high school, but anyway, I've got this delightful birthday present over shirt - Tommy Hilfiger - flannel and blue with a denim collar. It's great for me because although I love the fashion of winter coats, I hate the bulk. And this is perfect for me. It's not faded and washed away, but I can add a memory to it now - it's long hanging tail hid from the world last night that the seat of my pants split wide open. I first heard the rip as I was getting in the car from supper, and by the time I got home they were wide-azz open. Too funny. And odd timing since I had just decided that both they and a pair of khaki's should go to the fishes and loaves closet at church to help keep someone warm this winter and I should upgrade pants for work. But those went into the garbage instead.
I'm going in a wee bit later today. The entire sales department is having a client holiday party tonight. I just talked with another sales manager and found out who slept with clients last year. But I'm happily dating someone, so I don't have that luxury. I asked for an exception to monogamy tonight "for the company" and I did not get it. Oh well.
Happy Friday to you!

Conversation
The conversation at the other job opportunity this morning conceptually went well, but really, it's just not enough to make me leave my current place. I've got a good job with a boss who is smokin' hot, she approves almost everything I ask for if I have good logic behind it, she gives me weekends off, and doesn't really mind if I'm late.
In addition, the reasons that I left that company 7 years ago still exist, and he discussed salary as "do-able." Not "I can make it worth it" or anything such.
I really would like to "return home" there - it's where I cut my teeth in the biz and there are some good people there. But I just don't think this is the right time.

Rant
The sign on my door/all the apartment doors says the parking lot will be off limits tomorrow afternoon through Friday morning. "You may" park on the North side of the building or on the street.
"You may . . . " Guess what, people already park on the North side and the North side only holds about 4 cars max anyway, so there are no incremental spaces there. "On the street" people already park, including myself sometimes. If it lines up right and people with shorter cars park close together, it's five maximum but closer to four average. So there's no incremental spaces there.
The other side of the street is no parking. I've got a ticket to prove it.
So exactly wherethafuck are we supposed to park.
There's absolutley no "We contacted the businesses adjacent to the building and you can park there after 5" or "We contacted the city and you can park on the opposite side this night." Basicly, they told us what we already know and people already do - that for 15 apartments, there are 9 maximum parking spaces available tomorrow night.
I am so unhappy with this management company. I understand their role is to manage the building for the owners, but you'd think there's be some amount of management on your behalf. I've had a damned hole in the bathroom ceiling for a month now waiting on them to fix the leak in the upstairs bathroom. I am just so unhappy with these people. I can foresee that come August I'll be looking for someplace to move to, because I just dislike these people so very much.

Television Quotes
I can not have an aid who will not look up, you will be forever walking into things. - Delenn
Understanding is not required, only obedience - Lenier
Maybe I needed you, maybe I just needed someone. And right now, for this one moment, I don't care. Don't send me away. Don't make me feel like a fool.
Sinclair: I just wish I could be more sure.
Garibaldi: Sure is for people with nothing on the line. You and me, we just get on with it.
Dr. Biggs: I'm waiting, for an apology.
Sinclair: You'd better check the temperature in hell first.
. . . . that a half truth is the worst kind of lie. Draal, as repeated by Delenn.
Oven and Netflix
After burning everything in the oven, I spent four bucks on an oven thermometer (pronounced thermo-meter in my head) and the oven is officially 100 degrees hotter than the dial. Well, there ya go.
NetFlix has been fabulous still, though My Fella took an instant dislike to "Team America: World Police" and started second guessing my sanity. That movie was put on pause about 15 minutes into it and I finished it the next day.
Disk 2 of season 1 of Babylon 5 is here today, so I'll probably watch that after I spend some time updating my resume.
I had a phone call yesterday asking to come and talk to someone about some "opportunities." At least, I hope it was plural on opportunity, because the one I found out about through networks and contacts isn't one I'd be interested in. But I have a very good feeling about it. I am very content at my current job - decent pay, great hours, and a boss who is a looker, even if she is a girl. But you gotta be open to opportunities. Not long to wait though, the meeting is tomorrow at 9 and they just called yesterday. So we'll see. We'll see.

Mayori

Lunch at Mayori to celebrate John's birthday. I loved it. Indian, buffet. The roasted potatoes were super-delish. Loved the fried onion, and enjoyed the soupy chicken on top of rice. The apples sliced into slivers in a mango sauce were fun, and so were the things I thought were beets or beet-ish, but turned out to be bread like donut holes soaked in a deep red cinnamon sauce. Of course the company and friendship were great too!

Winter Wonderland
What a nice day and weekend. Very festive - christmassy. Last evening after supper, we rode through the lit park with the music piped through the radio. At ten dollars a car, it goes to a good cause, and is worth it. It's not particularly overly beautiful, but it is pretty in a very Christmas lights sort of way, the kind of thing you can do only once a year. Afterwards, we ran over to my friends Nance & Tom and had a few rounds of Jenga with them.
Today we headed out to lunch with friends John & Karen, it was a lunch to celebrate John's birthday. Since it was his birthday, it was his choice and he wanted to take us to his favorite Indian restaurant. My Fella was not overly impressed, but I enjoyed it very much. My two favorites were the roasted potatoes - very spicy - and the fried onion. I thought the onion was funny - when you consider how often "we" cook onions in batter and then to find them on an Indian buffet.
Afterwards, with a brief sojurn into Target, we headed to the Enchanted Forest. It's about an hour, maybe less, and is made up of the display that was in Goldsmith's 40 years ago. Really, you can walk through in probably 20 minutes, but it can take you back 20 years, and you just can't get that too many places for 5 bucks. We've got the best picture with Santa from there and very reasonable at $10 for one 5x7.
After a so-so dinner that I cooked in my brand new crockpot (thank you Noodle!), we headed out to the zoo for Zoo Lights. I had won free tickets earlier in the week but they were not at will-call. So we bought tickets and went on in and enjoyed the walk through the zoo. We passed on the picture with Santa, but fell prey to a group photo at the front entrance. $14 bucks for one photo and not particularly good. I think their photographers are on some kind of quota, just snapping photo's where ever they find you, without really thinking that for those outrageous prices they should have something pretty in the background(the $15 one was the absolute cheapest).
Anyway, I have some photo's I dropped off at the Walgreens tonight, and for some reason my digital camera thing isn't reading. But any-hoo - - some good news - - I was going to save up for a table set I found at Big Lots that I really like and think would fit good in this new apartment. It's $200 for the table, $100 for a set of two chairs. Guess what I found at Garden Ridge tonight - a very similar table and 4 chairs for $200 total. So some real nice guy named Michael confirmed that the display was the last one and no, they wouldn't mark it down, but I could buy it. Since it's already put together, that will save me from having to put it together and that's like a discount to me. lol. So in the morning we are going back in My Fella's truck to snag it up.
We came home and had hot chocolate and homemade pumpkin pie and now at about 10:20 we're all getting ready for bed.
Good day, good day. Busy from place to place but a very good day.

Four Things
Four first names of crushes I had
- Dana is the absolute earliest one I can remember.
- Jennifer. I sometimes dated her in college. I think I really loved her. Don't ask, I try not to think about it too much.
-Michelle
-Julia
OK, OK, I'll add four more, just for the fun of it:
- Daryl. Though he'd hate it if he ever knew
- Jeff. Though he'd hate it if he ever suspected
- Kedrin. Now there's a mixed up thought in my head. I wonder where he is now. I sometimes think I'll run into him in an art gallery by recognizing this one huge oil painting he was working on in his dorm room. It was a hand print. Seemed cool at the time.
-Johnny. He'd more than likely just shoot me. lol.
(Some of these I had to think hard about - I'm not sure I really knew they were crushes at the time. I think looking back, they probably were. But I didn't really know it.)
Four pieces of clothing I wish I still owned (or could fit into)
- a windbreaker that I bought at a fancy schmancy store with a gift certificate. I left it in my seat on a train bound for New Orleans. It was gone when I returned.
- a blazer that was given to me by the same people that gave me the above gift card. Absolutely beautiful, and probably from the same store. I had to ask my boss if I could keep it because it was above the value of accepted gifts. I never wore it enough, my version of not using the good china
-an overcoat/trenchcoat I bought in Maryland on a trip to see Noodle & Skeeter. I don't remember what happened to it but it seems like. . . . oh yes, one winter at the old apartment it was stolen out of my car. I'd like to think that somebody needed it who was cold and needed my Franklin Covey planner to keep up with the times and locations of the local soup kitchens
-a pull over that I had for years and years. An ex accidentally put a cigarette burn into it about 4 years ago. He somehow burned it even as he was breaking up with me. He dumped me, I put it on to leave, and there was a hole in the front pocket. I think I put it in a pile of homeless clothing, because if I wanted it, I wanted it without that odd memory and cigarette burn.
Four professions I secretly want to try
-preacher or school teacher or counselor (i just want to tell people how to live their lives)
-One of those guys on the side of the road with the tall stick things, waving at each other. They often look so hot in their white t-shirt and yellow vest, looking through their telescope thing.
-doctor
-casting director
Four musicians I most want to go to dinner with
-Prince
-ABBA
-Those 4 celtic singing women
-Trace Adkins, Tim McGraw, Toby Keith & Kenny Chesney (as a prelude to a 5some)
Four foods I'd rather throw than eat
- green peas
- english peas
- sweet peas
-leseur peas
Four things I like to sniff
-Fennel
-rosemary.
-Crown Royal
-Curve cologne for men (Yes, Brandy, I rememer that you lurk, and that is where it comes from - there is still some in the bottle you sent him to get. I sprayed some of it just the other day)
Thanks to Noodle for passing this one on (and please remember to bring me some of your mom's homemade cornbread dressing.)
Now I'm going to add four
Four favorite foods
- Mom's fried chicken tenders
- Noodle's mom's Cornbread dressing
- Homemade sweet tea - preferably my Mom's, Noodle's mom's, or Mamaw's.
- Hamburger helper
Four favorite movies
-Dogma
-Galaxy Quest
-The Matchmaker
-and what kind of self respecting gay boy would I be if I didn't say Auntie Mame
Four television guilty pleasures (I'm thinking more of re runs I can't pass by)
-Star Trek
-the Charmed Ones
-Law & Order SVU with Mariska Hargitay
-CSI with Marg Helgenberger
Four guilty pleasure websites
-woot
-Advice from Prudence on slate.com
-imdb.com
-wikipedia
